🐾🌿 Let’s Talk About Dogs at the Venue — and Why This Policy Matters 🌿🐾

We LOVE dogs — heck, we have two of our own! ❤️ And even our dogs are trained to use the wooded areas of our property as their potty spot instead of our maintained lawns.

So when we say we're protective of the grass, we mean it! 😂🌱

Unfortunately, this is something we have to address because nearly every wedding weekend we encounter an issue with an unapproved dog being brought onto the property.

Most of the time, we truly believe it's simply because a guest didn't know.

Someone brings their dog along, assuming it won't be a problem. The bride and groom are busy getting married, the guest doesn't know our rules, and suddenly we're put in the uncomfortable position of having to deal with it during someone's wedding weekend.

That's exactly what we're trying to avoid.

🐕 Why are we so protective of the grass?

Dog urine can burn grass and leave dead yellow spots that are incredibly difficult to repair quickly.

And once one dog urinates in an area, that scent can encourage the next dog to use the same spot. One spot can quickly become 10.

For someone's backyard, that might not be a huge deal.

For us, that spot could be directly behind an altar, next to the aisle, or in the background of someone's wedding photos the very next weekend. 💍🌿

We spend countless hours watering, mowing, fertilizing, repairing and caring for these lawns so every couple gets the beautiful property they were promised.

🐾 Does that mean dogs aren't allowed at TVR?

Not at all!

❤️ We have always allowed an approved dog to participate in the wedding ceremony. We know how special it can be to have your furry family member walk down the aisle or be part of that moment.

🏕️ For weekend weddings, approved dogs can also stay in our campground. There is TONS of room for them out there! We just require responsible supervision and that they remain in the approved campground areas outside of their participation in the ceremony.

🌲 We ask that potty breaks happen in the wooded and campground areas — not on our maintained wedding lawns.

It's the same rule we follow with our own dogs.

🚨 This is where we REALLY need our couples' help.

If you're getting married at TVR, please communicate our dog policy clearly to your family, wedding party and guests BEFORE your wedding weekend.

Please don't assume everyone knows.

An unapproved pet brought onto the venue grounds puts both us and you in an incredibly uncomfortable position.

Our rental agreement places responsibility for guests and compliance with Venue policies on the renting couple. Unauthorized pets are a violation of the rental agreement and may result in charges or loss of some or all of the security/damage deposit as provided in your contract.

We don't want anyone losing deposit money over something that could have been prevented with one conversation before the wedding.

🐕‍🦺 Qualified service animals are handled separately from our pet policy and are accommodated as required by the ADA and applicable law. We respectfully ask service-animal handlers, whenever reasonably possible, to use our designated relief areas rather than the maintained wedding lawns.

We also ask that if our brides and grooms know of a guest needing to bring a qualified service animal, we kindly would like a heads up to alert our staff of the situation so we can help assist where the designate relief areas are located.  

At the end of the day, this isn't about whether your dog is sweet.

It's not about whether they're well behaved.

And it certainly isn't because we don't love dogs.

We have dogs. We get it. ❤️

It's about protecting the grounds that every couple who books TVR is trusting us to have beautiful and ready when their weekend finally arrives.

So bring that special approved pup for the ceremony. 🐾💍 Let them enjoy all that room in the campground with their responsible babysitter.

We just need everyone's help keeping those beautiful wedding lawns exactly what they're supposed to be...
